My published work is primarily solo piano music, but I'm starting to release some different stuff in my YouTube videos for Adams Place. My "day job" is working as a graphic designer and author at Adams Place: a non-profit organization dedicated to debunking the myths of mental illness through word, art, and education. As a crazy person myself (I have OCD and Bipolar II), I feel a special calling to use my art to teach folks about mental illness. My first three years at Adams Place were spent working on our first book, "Crazy: A Creative and Personal Look at Mental Illness." I contributed a good deal of visual art and text to the book, but it was not until the summer of 2012 that I began creating music for Adams Place. Composing and recording new music for our YouTube videos has allowed me to incorporate my music into my work at Adams Place, and I'm very excited about the results. I realize it's a bit different from what I've put out in the past, but I hope that fans of my solo piano music will give it a listen anyway.
And don't worry, I'm not "done" with solo piano. :-) In fact, I'm currently working on a new michaelhannamusic.com, on some YouTube videos using my solo piano music, and on making some sheet music available for purchase.
